Types of Project Management Certifications

  • The PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)SM. If the Agile approach to project management suites your style you may want to earn this one.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)® serves as the most globally recognized certification amongst practitioners and industry experts. If you have clearly demonstrated the ability to lead projects and an effective team leader, then this designation is perfect for you.
  • The PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP)®. In every big project, there are professional men and women who must manage schedules for projects. If this description describes you and you want to be credentialed for a management role in maintaining project schedules, you should seek to earn this credential.
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)®. This is where most practitioners begin is most often recognized as entry-level certification. If you have never been certified, you should begin here although you are not required to start here. A lot of industry professional and experts often start with this credential when they are undecided about which career path they should take.
  • PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)®. This credential is globally recognized in the industry as a specialty for those who have knowledge and experience in analyzing risks assessment, seizing opportunities within industries, and managing operational roadblocks which may stand in the way of a project.
  • Program Management Professional (PgMP)®. This designation characterizes an individual with the unique ability to manage multiple projects in an enterprise environment.
